Our Story

Where horses, family & community come together.

Sihota Stables is a family-owned boarding farm on 13 quiet acres just outside Sumas, Washington.

We built this place around a simple standard: horses do best when their environment is calm, their people are attentive, and their routine is consistent. Everything we do — from turnout schedules to how we source hay — comes back to that.

The pastures are well-drained. The barn is clean. And the people you’ll meet on our aisle are here because they care about the horses first.

Our Approach to Care

Steady hands. Consistent routine. Room to breathe.

Boarding a horse means trusting a stranger with an animal you love. We take that seriously. Here’s what that looks like in practice.

  1. i.

Eyes on every horse, every day

Twice-daily health and well-being checks. If anything’s off, you’re the first to know.

  2. ii.

    Consistent turnout & feeding schedule

Horses thrive on routine. Feed times, turnout, and stall cleaning happen on the clock.

  3. iii.

    Quality forage as the foundation

Grass hay from local Whatcom County growers and alfalfa from eastern Washington, stored dry. Grain and supplements on request.

  4. iv.

    A small, respectful barn community

We keep the boarder list intentionally short. It makes for a calmer barn and better care.

I was genuinely surprised by how much has changed. The new owners have clearly put a ton of work into the property, and the difference from what I remembered is pretty incredible.
